I teach and research in early childhood education and childhood studies. My combined teaching and research interests focus on teacher identities and understandings of professionalism, the policy and socio-political contexts in which teachers work, and early childhood leadership. I have interests in the critical study of children's rights and democratic participation. I am the Programme Director for the Bachelor of Early Childhood Studies at the University of Auckland, and I have over twenty years experience in initial teacher education. I am a member of the editors collective for The First Years Ngā Tau Tuatahi NZ Journal of Infant and Toddler Education. I am a core faculty team member at the Centre for Global Childhoods.
