A professor of Artificial Intelligence with a PhD from Liverpool John Moores University. Currently Professor of AI and Vice Dean for the Joint Institute of Data Sciences and Artificial Intelligence at the University of Aberdeen. Previously spent 26 years at De Montfort University, rising from Lecturer to Professor. Research interests include knowledge representation, machine learning, cognitive systems, quantum AI, and human-centred AI. Fellow of BCS (FBCS), Senior Fellow of HEA (SFHEA), Senior Member of IEEE (SMIEEE), and Chartered Engineer. Served in multiple professional society leadership roles including AISB Publications Officer and Convention Chair.
