Hendrickson is an American native English speaker and a distinguished professor at Carnegie Mellon University. With a strong educational background, he holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from Stanford University, a master’s in Philosophy of Economics from the University of Oxford, and a PhD in Civil Engineering from MIT. Since 1978, he has served as Hammerschlag University Professor and Director of the Traffic 21 Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, and as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Transportation Engineering (ASCE). His research focuses on transportation systems, urban planning, sustainable design, and construction management, with contributions including dynamic traffic equilibrium models and green design software tools.
