Associate Professor of History at the University of Calgary and former Canada Research Chair in the History of Energy (2014–2019). Holds a Ph.D. in Social Sciences from Ruhr-Universität Bochum (2003). Specializes in energy history, international relations, and Arctic politics. Published extensively on energy security, deindustrialization, and energy transitions. Leads multiple SSHRC-funded projects and serves as Co-Convenor of the Energy in Society Working Group at the Calgary Institute for the Humanities
