Geographer and Associate Professor at the University of Calgary, holding a Ph.D. in Geography (2003) and an LL.B. from the University of Western Ontario (1987). Research focuses on political geography, environmental justice, mining and indigenous rights, and Philippine socio-environmental conflicts. Author of several books including President Rodrigo Duterte and the War on Drugs and Mining and Natural Vulnerability in the Philippines. Recipient of multiple teaching excellence awards and former undergraduate program director in the Department of Geography.
