An emeritus professor of Computing Science with a PhD in AI from Heriot-Watt University (1996). Previously held the SICSA Chair in System Modelling at Aberdeen (2002–2021), serving as Head of Computing Science (2010–2014) and Deputy Head of School (2015–2018). Recently completed an MTh(R) in Theology and Science at Edinburgh Theological Seminary/University of Glasgow (2023). Current research focuses on analytic theology and the philosophy of Donald MacKay. Honorary Research Fellow at Edinburgh Theological Seminary, serving on its Senate and Seminary Board. Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts. Also a professional singer with LTCL diploma.
