I am a historian specializing in the cultural and visual history of the nineteenth-century American South, holding a PhD from Tulane University. My research, which explores the intersections of slavery, art, and material culture, has culminated in a forthcoming monograph examining slavery and silhouettes. My scholarly work extends to numerous publications in peer-reviewed journals and edited collections, focusing on Southern folklife, art, and environmental history. I have extensive experience in academia as a Visiting Assistant Professor and Adjunct Faculty, developing and teaching courses on American history through art, folklife, and specialized topics. My career also integrates public humanities, including curatorial projects, directing community-based folklife initiatives, and serving on state cultural boards, reflecting a deep commitment to bridging academic scholarship with public engagement and cultural preservation.
