A chemistry professional with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut (2003) and postdoctoral experience at New Mexico State University, holding M.S. and B.S. degrees (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Nairobi.
Serving as a Professor at Salve Regina University since 2017, with prior roles as Associate and Assistant Professor, and Chair of the Chemistry Department (2016-2019). Teaches courses in chemistry (analytical, instrumental) and physics, and led the development of new academic programs (e.g., Biochemistry, Chemistry-Secondary Education).
Research focuses on developing nanomaterial-based chemical/biological sensors, including arrays for cancer biomarker detection and microfluidic sensors for seawater nutrient/pollutant monitoring, supported by NSF, NIH, and other grants. Authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, presented at conferences, and is a member of AAAS, ACS, and other professional societies. Also acts as a reviewer for NSF grants and scientific journals.
