A chemistry expert with a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the University of Connecticut (2003), postdoctoral experience at New Mexico State University, and M.S. and B.S. degrees (Summa Cum Laude) from the University of Nairobi.
Since 2017, they have served as a Professor at Salve Regina University, with prior roles as Associate/Assistant Professor and Chemistry Department Chair (2016-2019). They teach analytical and instrumental chemistry, physics, and led the development of new programs like Biochemistry and Chemistry-Secondary Education.
Their research focuses on nanomaterial-based chemical/biological sensors, including cancer biomarker detection arrays and microfluidic sensors for seawater monitoring, supported by NSF, NIH, and other grants. They have authored numerous peer-reviewed papers, presented at conferences, and are members of AAAS, ACS, and other societies. They also review NSF grants and scientific journals.
