Professor Emeritus and expert in construction materials, specializing in concrete microstructure, airport technology, and infrastructure repair. Former Director of a FAA-funded Center of Excellence for Airport Technology. Research focuses on foam concrete, 3D-printed materials, and sustainable pavements. Fellow of ACI and American Ceramic Society; past ACI president. Recipient of Wason Medal and RILEM Outstanding Paper awards. Teaches courses on concrete materials and reinforced concrete design.
